How to use in a sentence: When a woman told her friend that another friend of hers had stolen something, she opened up a can of worms because her friend turned out to be the person who had been robbed.  Her friend wanted to know who the person was.  The woman didn't want to get her other friend in trouble.  What a can of worms!
